Cosmic Impressions: Forest-Inspired Space Paint & Sip
This special Paint & Sip invites guests outdoors to explore the connection between Earth and space through spray paint and natural forms collected from the forests surrounding Chabot Space & Science Center. Using leaves, branches, cones, and other organic materials as stencils and texture tools, participants will create layered cosmic scenes inspired by nebulae, star fields, planetary surfaces, and the shared patterns found in nature and the universe. Your ticket includes two drink tickets for wine or beer, along with snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. This 21+ event offers a relaxed, creative evening that blends art, science, and the beauty of Chabot’s natural setting.
Medium: Spray Paint & Natural Stencils
Paint Workshop: In this hands-on outdoor workshop, guests will use spray paint alongside natural materials gathered from the forest to build dynamic compositions. Leaves, needles, and branches become tools for creating organic textures that echo real astronomical phenomena, such as swirling nebulae, cratered planets, and cosmic dust clouds. The session emphasizes experimentation, layering, and the translation of natural forms into otherworldly landscapes.
Astronomy Presentation: Patterns in Nature & the Cosmos
Discover how the same shapes and processes appear across vastly different scales, from plant structures and erosion patterns on Earth to nebulae, galaxies, and planetary surfaces in space. Guests will learn how astronomers use pattern recognition to study the universe and how observing nature can deepen our understanding of cosmic systems, connecting science, observation, and visual storytelling.
Please Note: This is an outdoor event. We recommend dressing in layers and wearing comfortable clothing appropriate for variable Bay Area evening weather.
