Odyssey Overnights

Blast off into an out of this world experience exploring the outer realms of space! This program will take your group from Earth into the great unknown through workshops, activities, exhibits, telescopes and planetarium offerings.

Here are some of our exciting new programmatic features: 

  • Exclusive access to the science center after 5pm

  • Telescope optics led by the East Bay Astronomical Society

  • New planetarium shows that specially cover constellation identification and the correlation between the earth, moon and sun for older groups

  • A private day-in-the-life of an astronomer session

The odyssey overnight includes: 

  • Exhibit Exploration

  • Planetarium Shows

  • Telescope viewing (Weather/availability permitting)

  • Overview of the constellations in the planetarium 

Availability: 4pm-10am (No early entry) 

Check-in period: 4pm-4:30pm - Program starts at 4:30pm (late entry is permissible) 

Check-in location: Side entry between the two buildings.  

Minimum group size: 10 (If your group has less than 175 participants they will be combined with other groups.  

Maximum group size: 200 

Open To: school aged children through adult 

Rate: $80 per youth/ $50 per adult  

Member Discount: $10 off per member* 

 *The member discount is limited to participants from the same household. 

 

MEMBERS: You must login to your member account to receive the discount. Once you complete the registration information and add tickets to your shopping cart, your discount will be automatically applied.

 

Meals: Catered dinner and breakfast by LaBonne Cuisine's Bistro Express may be included for an additional $20 per person. Participants may also bring their own meals. (No heating or refrigeration is available.) Meal sales will end 2 weeks prior to your event. No ordering is available onsite. Chabot's Bean Sprouts cafe will not be open during your overnight experience. 

 

Educational Program:

Your reservation includes astronomy, telescope and planetarium programming.  Separate from the workshop are informal astronomy activity stations, planetarium shows and telescope viewing. Cub and Boy Scout groups automatically will be given a program that includes segments designed to meet the astronomy merit badge requirements. (Determined by participant enrollment ages).  The public overnight options do not include scout requirements.  

CHABOT SPACE & SCIENCE CENTER IS NOT AUTHORIZED TO SIGN MERIT BADGE ACHIEVEMENTS  

Cancellations:

Cancellations received 45 days in advance or greater will receive a 100% refund less a 5% processing fee if payment was made by credit card.  Cancellations received 44-15 days’ notice will receive a 50% refund.  Payment can be made by cash, check, or credit card.  Cancellations with less than 14 days’ notice prior to your event will result in a forfeiture of the full reservation amount.
